Made from dozens of salvaged pants; Bits, Pieces & Parts explores issues of North American cultural identity. Featured here are a few selected works, for example the American flag work has the words: MADE IN MEXICO burned into it, recognizing the close of all Levis manufacturing plants in the U.S. following the trend towards outsourcing. Other works are aprons constructed entirely from metal zippers (and button flies) exploring ideas of contrasting cultural traditions.
These works were exhibited in Toronto at separate locations: The York Quay Gallery, John Stienberg & Associates, the Ontario Craft Council 2005
The creation of these works was supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.
