Three hand-crafted yardage lengths with corresponding garments (vests) made up the body of work: Where Has She Been. Each yardage is 3 meters in length and consists of 6 layers of fabric. Each layer of fabric is hand-dyed and silkscreen printed with devoré. The floral pattern is revealed through the layers of calculated “holes” created by burning away the fires. The various layers of the holes (rose images) are held in place with hand-stitching.
This work was designed to experiment with structural surface design through dye and print.
Exhibited in Halifax, NS at the Anna Leonowens Gallery in 2002.
